Through my exchange program, I made some amazing friends from Konkuk University and Sungkyunkwan University. It felt like fate brought us together, and we immediately planned a night out to explore Seoul’s bar scene. Our destination: Bar Cham, ranked among Asia’s top 50 bars. With high expectations, we eagerly anticipated our visit.
Given Bar Cham’s popularity, we had to wait a while to get in. However, the wait was made pleasant by the charming bartender who offered us white wine on the house. His gesture made the wait worthwhile. As we perused the menu, the friendly bartenders were eager to chat and offer recommendations. Each cocktail was meticulously crafted, often accompanied by a bit of showmanship, making the experience even more enjoyable.
1. My Sweet Orange Tree - ₩19,000
This cocktail was a delightful blend of grapefruit and orange flavors, perfect for those who love a sweet and tangy fruit drink. It was my choice, and I absolutely loved it!
2. Fig Leaves - ₩19,000
A unique and refreshing cocktail with a subtle fig flavor that left a lasting impression.
3. Goodbye Sadness - ₩20,000
This drink lived up to its name, lifting our spirits with its complex, well-balanced flavors.
4. Platter - ₩18,000
The platter was a great accompaniment to our drinks, featuring olives (which none of us particularly liked), bacon, cheese, and creamy crackers. It was delicious and paired perfectly with our cocktails.
One of the best parts about Bar Cham is the personalized experience. If you don’t find something to your taste on the menu, you can discuss your preferences with the bartender, and they’ll craft a custom drink just for you.
The ambiance at Bar Cham is cozy and intimate, with dim lighting that creates a relaxed atmosphere. The space isn’t very large, making it perfect for small groups of 2-4 people to have a good time and engage in conversation. If you’re in Seoul and looking for a top-notch bar experience, Bar Cham should be at the top of your list.
